Jens Nagel

born on 01.07.1963 in Waren/Müritz

Jens Nagel grew up with two brothers but without a father

He was interested in drawing in his younger days – that's why he took a painting course at school

He liked fine arts and science subjects and graduated from school with good final marks

He tried to push being an artist to the back of his mind.

After school, he took an apprenticeship as machinist

From 1982 to 1985 he did his military service in Berlin

Afterwards he worked as fitter, artisan, caretaker.

1991 – 1993 he successfully completed a distance learning-drawing course at the Axel Andersson Academy in Hamburg. He completed many assignments, judged by artists and educators.

Nagel learned the basics of academic painting and artistic drawing

Subjects are: portrait, landscape, still life, perspective, theory of colour, composition

From 1992 to 1994 he retrained as bricklayer.

In 1995 he met his current wife Kathrin, whom he married in May 1996.

1996 he moved to Retzow at Lychen. His son Clemens was born.

In 1998, his mother died at only 64 years.

In 2000, together with his wife he provided the basis for the future exotic-art-garden

In 2001, he began to paint in oils

From 2001 to 2003 he successfully retrained as a car salesman.

Since February 2004 he worked as a freelance artist

In 2006 he opened his own - Small Gallery - as part of the exotic-art-garden in the barn on his property in Retzow

In the first years of freelance, he worked as contract painter in the private sector. He made draws and paintings of people, animals, houses, landscapes and vehicles.

Now he sells successfully his works in oils and finding his motifs in nature or in his imagination.
